Aloneness A Love Story, The Book

Introduction to Aloneness A Love Story

“Celebrate aloneness, celebrate your pure space, and a great song will arise in your heart. And it will be a song of awareness, it will be a song of meditation. It will be a song of a lone bird calling in the distancenot calling to somebody in particular, but just calling because the heart is full and wants to call, because the cloud is full and wants to rain, because the flower is full and the petals open and the fragrance is released…unaddressed. Let your aloneness become a dance.” Osho

“This little book was created and written from March 2020 over the course of a year of social distancing. I think you may well agree that the subject of aloneness came up for all of us, during this pandemic. Many of you could write a book called loneliness. I have added a touch of self-love and awareness to my life and fell in love with my aloneness…the twin sister of loneliness. To be honest, it has not been an easy relationship. Thus, I insist that you challenge everything I write to find out what is right for you. Enjoy.” Krishna Prem

I left Boston fifty years ago and walked all the way to Bombay. I cannot walk on water, but I paced up and down the aisles of many a Boeing 747. I was 27 years old and my life was falling apart.

Astrology friends called this my Saturn Return. I called it my nervous breakdown.

I ended up at the feet of my friend Osho. Osho asked me “What kind of meditation do you prefer?” I didn’t really know what “meditation” meant, so I just said, “I love to walk.”

Osho laughed and said, “Walking is a great meditation. Your arms are moving one way, your legs are moving the other way, and if you are alert you will end up in your hara, which is the home of meditation.”

With this in mind, I invite you to take a walk with me. Reading my book, you’ll find yourself moving one way, then the other way, then all over the place. With luck, you’ll find yourself becoming centered.

Oh, by the way, if you find a few roses among the stories, don’t forget to stop and smell their fragrance. Osho always reminded us that the journey is the goal.

Love is, Krishna Prem

"Aloneness simply means completeness. You are whole; there is no need for anybody else to complete you. So try to find out your innermost center where you are always alone, have always been alone. In life, in death - wherever you are - you will be alone. But it is so full! It is not empty; it is so full and so complete and so overflowing with all the juices of life, with all the beauties and benedictions of existence, that once you have tasted your aloneness, the pain in the heart will disappear. Instead, a new rhythm of tremendous sweetness, peace, joy, bliss, will be there."
