““IN”EXPERIENCE WANTED”

I remember meeting Osho and saying to myself that I want to look, act, be just like him. Of course, Osho was saying just the opposite. His message to me was to be true to myself. I recall saying to myself, “That’s easy for you to say, you are not me.” As soon as I met him, I began growing my beard to the point that I could not eat until my beard was full..

Many moons later... when my beard had become a teenager, a young friend said to me in an encounter group that my beard was keeping us separate. She said that my beard was growing straight out of my face like a barrier between the two of us.?

That very afternoon, I rickshawed down to MG Road and had a full frontal lobotomy. When I looked into the cracked mirror at my clean face... I remember chuckling to myself what a nice feeling it was to look like little ol’ me for the first time in my Osho life.

Recently, I grew a small beard again. Grey lived where there once was red... and I looked like I never got out of bed.

I shaved immediately... I realized, I enjoyed living in my very own skin.

“Each man is born with a unique individuality, and each man has a destiny of his own. Imitation is criminal. You may look like Buddha, you may walk like Buddha, you may talk like Buddha, but you will miss. Because Buddha happens only once. It is not in the nature of things to repeat. God is so creative that He never repeats anything. You cannot find another human being in the present, in the past, or in the future, who is going to resemble you exactly. Man is not a mechanism. Man is a soul, is individual. Never imitate anybody.”

My brother, Dr. Brian Alman, who wrote the best selling book “Self- Hypnosis”, will be teaching in Krefeld, Germany this October...many of you worked with Brian at the Osho Multiversity in Poona and asked me to let you know when he is coming to Europe. He will be teaching Self-Hypnosis for therapists and clients: “How to learn Self-Hypnosis- How to teach Self-Hypnosis”. The course is from Oct 18th -21st... if you are interested, you can contact Brian through his website at www.selfhypnosis.com.

Dr. Brian Alman and his mentor,
Dr. Milton Erickson, in 1977

I am a living example that self-hypnosis works. Brian shared with me all the personal tools I needed so that I could help myself use self-hypnosis to quit smoking... in fact, to go beyond all my addictions and be the best that I can be.

“You will have to lose the ego, you will have to lose your idea of who you are. The ego is nothing but a deep hypnosis. And meditation is the process of dehypnosis. It is the process of bringing you back to that innocent state where you were not yet hypnotized. Hence, Jesus says again and again: Unless you are like small children, you will not enter into my kingdom of God. What does he mean? He means you have to be unconditioned again, you have to be dehypnotized.”

Last night I had a hypnotic dream that my ass finally got enlightened... or was I only dreaming I am a donkey.

Don’t laugh... if it can happen to my dog, why can’t it happen to my sorry ass?

I just want to take a moment to thank my friend Leo Hartong for allowing me to steal his sense of humor without crying about it. You can laugh and learn for yourself at Leo’s website at http://www.awakeningtothedream.com/newsletter.

I will leave you now with a bunch of bull.

Love is, Krishna Prem

“Does Size Really Matter”

Love tells me I am everything.

The moral of this newsletter is...

Once upon a time, there was a bunch of tiny frogs... who arranged a running
competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the
contestants....

The race began....

Honestly, no one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach
the top of the tower. You heard statements such as:

"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"

"They will NEVER make it to the top."

or:

"Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one....

except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher.

The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up....but ONE continued higher and higher and higher....

This one wouldn't give up!

At the end everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one
tiny frog that, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!

THEN all of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog
managed to do it?

A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed
and reach the goal.
It turned out....

That the winner was DEAF!!!!

“Nowhere is Now Here”

In the West, I am always in a rush. When I am in India, I am always waiting for a rush. No matter what, this very moment remains illusive. How about you...are you here now? Please take a moment to answer this simple quiz to see if you are living in the moment.

You are driving in a car at a constant speed. On your right side is a 'drop off ' (the ground is 18-20 inches below the level you are traveling on), and on your left side is a fire engine traveling at the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloping horse which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is another galloping horse. Both horses are also traveling at the same speed as you. What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?

For the answer, click and drag your mouse from star to star.

“Have you seen a bullock-cart moving? The wheel moves goes on moving, but at the center of the wheel something remains permanent. On that permanent hub the wheel moves. On that unmoving hub the wheel's movement exists. Exactly like that, you have a hub -- that hub is unmoving; and you have a wheel-like personality that goes on moving. You have traveled far, thousands of miles and thousands of lives, and the wheel knows many roads and many paths, but the hub has remained where it is. Now you can look at reality in two ways: either from the wheel -- then everything is changing every moment; or from the hub -- then nothing is changing.”

“How to find this hub of life? -- by becoming a witness, one finds it. Somebody insults you, anger arises; you remain a witness. The insult comes from outside, the anger arises on the periphery, and you remain at the center, watching. Yes, somebody has done something, provoked your periphery, and there is anger on the periphery, and the anger is surrounding you like a smoke cloud, but you are at the hub, watching. You are not identified with the periphery. Then the insult is outside, and the anger is also outside of you. Both are separate and far away. Both are different from you.”

“When this awareness grows, dreaming stops, by and by. When this awareness grows, the wheel moves slower and slower. One day it happens: the wheel is as silent, as unmoving as the hub. That is the point when enlightenment happens.”

OSHO

My feeling is that most of us deep meditators are in a rush because we agree with the Mayan Calendar that says the world is coming to an abrupt end 2012. Well I now have conclusive proof that the Mayans are from Venus and Men are from Mars.

“The past is yours, the future is yours, and the present is God's. We divide time into three tenses -- past, present, future -- but that division is not right. Time can be divided between the past and the future but the present is not part of time, it is part of eternity.”

OSHO

Even God is concerned about the end of the world and has begun placing billboards on the super highways in America and the autobahn in Germany to improve his image in these most difficult times.

If you don't believe me, ask God. I overheard a scientist insisting, "Lord, we don't need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the beginning. "

"Oh, is that so? Tell me..." replies God.

"Well", says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus creating man."

"Well, that's interesting. Show Me."

So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.

"Oh no, no, no..." interrupts God, "get your own dirt."

Speaking of the inside dirt...I love this parable I recently received as an email over the innernet

There once was a wise woman traveling in the mountains who found a precious
stone in a stream. The next day she encountered a traveler who was very
hungry and she opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler
seeing the precious stone asked if she would give it to him. She did so
without hesitation.

The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew that
the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime.
But after only a few days, he returned to give the stone back to the woman.

I have been thinking, he said, I know how valuable the stone is, but I am
giving it back in the hope that you can give me something even more
precious.

What would that be? asked the woman.

I want you to give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.

"HEAVEN CAN WAIT"

Be honest, do you think I am at the Osho International Meditation Resort right now because I love women? Or do you think I am here to be meditate my life away?

The answer is none of the above.

I am here in The Osho International Meditation Resort because from Poona, India, it’s a local telephone call to Heaven. Just the other night while I was on stage during our variety show, my cell phone rang...to my amazement it was God himself...< I usually get the operator at the pearly gates>...needless to say I took the collect call.

God asked me about our friend Sam who recently had a silent heart attack. God asked me if Sam was due upstairs in the near future. Personally I was upset that God called me to ask about Sam, but I didn’t let on. I simply suggested it was up to you, God, not me. I was surprised when he said he found it difficult to make decisions. I felt like saying, “Grow up” when God suggested leaving Sam’s fate up to the audience to decide.

I was shit scared that the audience of mostly new friends would vote Sam out in favor of a death celebration as only we can know how to party...I decided to call Sam on stage before the vote...I was amazed at the outpouring of healing love and thunderous laughter and applause that came Sam’s way...God, being the silent type, hung up on me.

The vote was unanimous...and I am happy to say that Sam is still with us...returning to health with every new day and again leading the No Dimensions meditation in the Osho Auditorium.

“Once you know yourself, there is no death. Death was only in your ignorance. In your meditative consciousness, death disappears just as darkness disappears when there is light brought in. Meditation brings the light in, and death is found to be the greatest fiction. It appears only from the outside that somebody is dying. From the inside nobody has ever died, and that is where your life source is. Life is neither born nor dies. It has been before birth; it will be after death. Birth and death both are small episodes in the eternal stream of consciousness and light.”

OSHO

In the middle of the night, God rang me again (he can be such a pain in the ass). God appeared relieved by the outcome of the vote...he had a message for Sam. He said, “Tell Sam that old tennis players never die, they just lose their balls.”

And then God started to unnecessarily rag on me. He said he was surprised that when he called to wake me up, that a sixty plus mature meditator like myself was unconsciously dreaming about making love. And just like that he projected a photo of my dreaming mind on my ceiling.

I was totally embarrassed to be exposed as a sex addict in the eyes of God...and I was thankful as hell when God suggested that I go back to sleep and he would personally give me a lesson in Tantra, the supreme understanding.

God, I hope I never wake up. Love is, Krishna Prem

“Tantra is something that has to be brought to the whole world again, to every individual -- because it teaches you that while making love you can also meditate, and if meditation and love-making mix into each other your sexuality starts changing its quality, it starts moving upwards. Now it is finding far more juicier spaces, more luminous spaces. Tantra can reach to the ultimate point of illumination, what we call enlightenment.”

"BEAR HEAR NOW"

On a small iceberg, somewhere near the North Pole, a little bear goes up to
his mother and asks, "Mom, what kind of bear am I?"

"You are a polar bear, son," replies his mother. "Are you sure I am not a
brown bear?" he asks. "Quite sure, son," she replies, "you are a polar
bear."

But the little bear is not satisfied. "Mom," he says, "maybe I am a grizzly
bear?"

"What are you asking these questions for, son?" asks his mother. "You are a
polar bear."

So the little bear walks across the iceberg to his father. "Pop," he says,
"am I a panda bear?"

"No, son," says the father, "you are a polar bear."

"Not a koala bear?" asks the baby bear. "No, you are a polar bear," says
his father. "Why are you asking all these questions?"

"Because," moans the little bear, "I am cold!"

“First you have to love yourself, know yourself, BE yourself. Out of that you will radiate love, understanding, tenderness, care for others. Out of meditation arises true compassion, but meditation is a selfish phenomenon. Meditation means just enjoying yourself and your aloneness, forgetting the whole world and just enjoying yourself. It is a selfish phenomenon, but out of this selfishness arises great altruism.”

OSHO

I just want to send warm love from Poona.

Right now the Osho Meditation Resort is filling up with juicy friends from around the world. the pool is heated, the Osho Auditorium is cooled. and in the cappuccino bar, today's gossip, tomorrow's gospel, can be heard just above the laughter. The Osho Meditation Resort remains a meeting place of friends.

During my first evening meeting, Osho, out of the blue, and totally out of context, said, "I want Krishna Prem to be happy". Osho was referring to the 'other' Krishna Prem, but as he is no longer here, I was subjected to tons of love and hugs for days to follow which finished off my state of down which comes with jet lag. Jet lag always seems to play with my mind until my body lands. Hugging helps.

Come if its easy. Easy is right.

I remain your friend…this snowman melts in your love, kp

“Meditate, and meditate totally, and put your whole energy into it. Beyond that, be gentle with yourself.”

OSHO

Ps…By the way, I am finished with taxi rides, I just got my Indian driving license so we can safely cruise the pot holes of Poona together on our way to dinner.

On the other hand, if you prefer an intimate evening at home, we can relax and order tofu burgers to take out…

"horn please"

kp newsletter

In the past, my defining moment of a near death experience was the taxi roller coaster ride between Mumbai and The OSHO Meditation Resort. Full of jet lag and overweight luggage, I entered my taxi with the thought that thank heavens my plane didn't crash land on arrival and prayed that my taxi wouldn't fly off that road just like the overturned trucks, one after another, lying in the valleys below me as my taxi crawled over the hill stations on my way home. And every time, just as I began to doze off, my driver (invariably) saw his chance to pass eleven trucks all at once...from the inside lane. Horns blasting, my neck whipped me back into attention. Believe me, if you managed to relax on that ride...you didn't need to take it in the first place. As Osho reminds us, "The journey is the goal".

Now that India is topping a billion in population, give or take a hundred million fellow travellers, Mother India is not getting into the birth control business, but has chosen instead to improve her highway infrastructure. So now the old death trap has become a highway. The jet lag is still real. The taxis still pass on the wrong side of logic and the trucks still only get flat tires on the passing lane or flat tops in the valley below...but my chances of arriving alive and unwell are now better then 50/50.

Amazingly, what I discovered about myself, is that I remained more alert and in the moment when my body was threatened on the old road, but now that I feel safe on the new highway, my mind kicks in like never before.

“The problem with modern man is that we have forgotten the language of silence, we have forgotten the way of the heart. We have completely forgotten that there is a life which can be lived through the heart. We are too much hung up in the head, and because we are too much in the head we cannot make any sense out of love."

- Osho

When my mind goes into overdrive, I tend to get totally depressed…and I consider taking the new designer drug below.

Thanks to Osho, I took the natural high road of meditation.

“Freedom is the ultimate experience of life.
There is nothing higher than that.
And out of freedom many flowers blossom in you.
Love is the flowering of your freedom.
Compassion, another flowering of your freedom.
All that is valuable in life flowers in the innocent, natural state of your being.

So don't connect freedom with independence. Independence is naturally from something, from somebody. Don't connect freedom with doing things that you want to do, because that is your mind, not you. Wanting to do something, desiring to do something, you are in the bondage of your wanting and your desiring.

But the freedom I have been talking about you simply are -- in utter silence, serenity, beauty, bliss."

- Osho

To be honest, even choosing mediation over drugs, I often feel like I'm snooping around.

In closing, I just want to say I really enjoy sending out this little newsletter to you all. And I came to find out recently that many friends didn't receive my last g.u.r.u. newsletter as I am computer illiterate.

The above cartoon from the New Yorker Magazine is politically incorrect. The ashram is now the OSHO International Meditation Resort . But as I laughed out loud, I realized it was time to put my blue jeans in storage and dust off my maroon robes as I ready for my return to Poona, India, my love.

As for you, join me if its easy…please consider taking the stress test below to see if the time is right for you to make your “flight from the alone to the alone”.

The photo above has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress levels with patients at the world renowned Ruby Hall Clinic. Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. Although the dolphins are identical, a closely monitored scientific study revealed that a person under stress will find differences in the two dolphins. If there are many differences found between the dolphins, it means that the person is experiencing a significant amount of stress. Look at the photograph. If you find more than one or two differences you may want to take a well deserved vacation at the Osho Meditation Resort.

“Love” has nothing to do with somebody else, it is your state of being. Love is not a relationship. A relationship is possible, but love is not confined to it, it beyond it, it is more than that ~ man becomes mature the moment he starts loving rather than needing. He starts overflowing, he starts sharing, he starts giving ~ and when two mature persons are in love, one of the greatest paradoxes of life happens, one of the most beautiful phenomena…they are together, and yet tremendously alone; they are almost one. But their oneness does not destroy their individuality. How can you dominate the person you love?”

It's Raining Dogs! Hallelujah!

There are only three steps. The first step: becoming aware that this world is nothing but games, becoming aware that this world is nothing but our projections; and the second step, becoming aware that the other world, heaven, paradise, is also nothing but our unfulfilled dreams, our unfulfilled desires projected in time, in the future; and the third step, when this world is dropped and that world is dropped, then all that is left is you. Then all that is left is the faculty of projection, the mind, the ego. And the third step consists of dropping the ego. And suddenly you are back home. Suddenly nothing is needed any more, all is available. And then one starts laughing, because this had always been so -- all had always been available. Just because we were searching and searching, and we were in such a frantic search that We never looked within; We never looked at the treasure that we are already carrying, we became too much obsessed with the outside world; we forgot the language of the inner, we forgot that there is an interior in us and that interiority is God.

OSHO

The misery is not your enemy; it is just a symptom. It indicates. It is like a thermometer; it simply shows that you are going wrong somewhere. Put it all right, put yourself right; bring yourself in harmony, come back, tune yourself. When every misery disappears one is in tune with one's nature. That nature Lao Tzu calls tao, Patanjali calls kaivalya, Mahavir calls moksha, Buddha calls nirvana. But whatsoever you want to call it -- it has no name and it has no form -- it is in you, present, right this moment. You have lost the ocean because you have come out of your self. You have moved too much in the outer world. Move inwards. Now, let this be your pilgrimage: move inwards.

OSHO

The capacity to be alone is the capacity to love. It may look paradoxical to you, but it is not. It is an existential truth: only those people who are capable of being alone are capable of love, of sharing, of going into the deepest core of the other person -- without possessing the other, without becoming dependent on the other, without reducing the other to a thing, and without becoming addicted to the other. They allow the other absolute freedom, because they know that if the other leaves, they will be as happy as they are now. Their happiness cannot be taken by the other, because it is not given by the other.

OSHO

It’s raining God! Hallelujah!

“As an animal...”

I can’t help myself. I am an animal… still now, but especially in my past lives… in my most recent past life as an animal, I was a giraffe. Being so tall, it was natural for me to learn the art of witnessing.

Witnessing is a key word for all meditators.
Witness that you are not the body...
Witness that you are not the mind...
Witness that you are only a witness.

Suddenly, great bliss arises in you
out of nowhere
flowers of invisible ecstasy
start showering on you.
You are at the very source of your life juices

Osho

As a dog, I learned to express my feelings.

The animal has great energy, that's why it is called animal. 'Anima' means aliveness, power, vitality; 'animal' means one who is vital. I am not for suppression. I am for understanding, I am for transformation. And if the animal is transformed and absorbed by the essence, you will feel great power, great fire. Your life will become such a passionate affair with existence, you will have such intensity, that each moment will give you the joy of an eternity

My favorite past life was when I was a whale… I remember singing not because I knew anything, but because I had a song.

Bliss is your intrinsic nature. It is nothing to be achieved and earned; it is nothing to be reached somewhere. You are born with it

So remember, do one brave thing then run like hell… love, kp

Tired? Quit those ‘48-hour days’

A loving intelligence is what is needed. Intelligence alone becomes intellectual, love alone becomes sentimentality, but a loving intelligence never becomes intellectuality or sentimentality. It gives you a new kind of integrity, a new crystallization.

High Friends, I was invited to write a meditation column for an on-line magazine out of Los Angeles… www.wholelifetimes.com …the magazine also features an article by Osho. Here it is.

You are simply too busy to give up your precious time simply to relax and let go. At least that’s what I hear all the time from my friends when I return to Los Angeles, the City of Angels, from India. It took me the longest time to understand how busy Angels are.

Certainly you need to a fast car to get from ‘here to here’.

Funny enough, I agree with you. Twenty-four hours is simply not enough time to have a successful life. So I want to offer you an extra 24 hours a day for “free” if you agree to set aside just one hour for meditation. Deal?

This is what I mean; The usual 24 hours is the time you spend away from yourself. It is the time you give your ‘outer’ life. It is your job, your society, your children.

Look closely now: You also spend 24 hours a day on your inner self, talking to yourself, taking care of yourself.

No wonder you are tired, every day of your life is 48 hours of work!

That’s where meditation comes in. When you learn to meditate–or let’s call it simply when you learn to relax—there is no such thing as time. You are simply in the moment. When your outer life and your inner life are in harmony, time disappears.

Here’s a "lifework” assignment to address that inner-outer harmony. Pick a juicy hour of your busy day and remain alert for one hour. Simply watch your two voices—inner and outer.

A perfect example is being at dinner with a beloved. Watch your body eats and watch what comes out of your mouth at the same time. Witness what your mind is constantly repeating, Is this food too fattening. I'd rather be alone. Making love is less fattening.

Remember the lifework assignment is be alert, not to be honest. Relax.

Be prepared.. You just might rediscover that you are not the mind, not the body, that you are simply the witness. If so, give your self an "A" for Enlightenment. If not, give yourself an "E" for Ego. In any case, have fun, it’s your life.

Awareness knows only the present. To be free from past and future is to taste freedom for the first time. And in that experience one becomes whole, healthy; all wounds are healed. That well-being is the beginning of transformation.

Goodbye Osho Meditation Resort, Hello World

I just booked my train ticket to Mumbai… training remains the best way to feel Mother India and meet her children up close and personal.

My six months in Poona are coming to an end…its time to leave the “womb” for the big bad world… on my screensaver, I have emblazoned an Osho quote which is my fire test.

The test of whether your meditation is succeeding or not is in life. When you meditate and you go to the shop you will know whether you are succeeding in your meditation or not. Are you still as greedy in the shop as you used to be before? Do you still get angry when somebody says something against you? Can people still manage to push your buttons as easily as before? The marketplace is the test of all your meditations. The test has to be there every day – one hour meditation, twenty-three hours test. And you will grow strong.

For me, it’s a good time to get out of town…the heat is back in India big time…my new idea of keeping my cool is to jump in the swimming pool at 3pm and then throw my maroon robe over my wet suit…and strut my stuff…I look like I pissed all over my self…but I grew up with the American Mantra, “Whatever Works”.

The Osho Meditation Resort is still juicy with a final exodus of best friends…which gives me a week of watching my very own breath before I hit Amsterdam…until then I’ll be in my own room in Osho house…with the air-conditioner on full blast…while I leave my wet suit on… somebody’s got to “maditate”.

I must add that the resort is so very sweet in this moment; the heat and intimacy have so much in common here.

Remember to be gentle with yourself. Love, kp

Close your eyes, so that you can see the reality of the here. There and then are only fictions. Here and now are the only realities.

A yogi leaves his cave in the Himalayas for New York City to test his enlightenment… he decides to drop his attachment to being a vegetarian and stops at a hot dog stand and orders his lunch: 'Make me one with everything.'

The yogi gives the vendor a $20 bill. The vendor takes the $20 and gives the yogi his hot dog. The yogi waits a beat. The vendor just smiles at him...

'Surely this hot dog didn't cost twenty bucks! Where's my change?'

and the vendor replies.....

'Ah, but change must come from within!’

The yogi was so upset that he walked straight into a bar and ordered his first alcoholic beverage in his lifetime. He was the only dark skinned man there. As he waited for his shot of booze, he noticed a white man behind him.

The white man said, ‘Colored people are not allowed here.’ The Indian yogi turned around and stood up.

He then said: ‘Listen sir... when I was born I was Brown, when I grew up I was Brown, when I'm sick I'm Brown, when I go in the sun, I'm Brown, when I'm cold I'm Brown.’ ‘And when I die I'll be Brown.’

‘But you sir, when you're born you're Pink, when you grow up you're White, when you're sick, you're Green, when you go in the sun you turn Red, when you're cold you turn Blue.’ ‘And when you die, you turn bright Purple.’

And you have the nerve to call me colored?’

The white man walked away... and our yogi sat back down, takes a sip and begins to enjoy his zorba nature.
